After months and months of house hunting, I am proud to say that Josh and I are finally moving... to a duplex. Yes, a duplex. House hunting has not yet revealed anything worth investing or purchasing for us yet, so our landlords at the apartments offered their duplex for only a hundred more than we will be paying once our rent increases in two months. Plus the square footage is almost twice as much. It'll be nice for misters to have a yard, not to mention an actual garage for us to put our misc. items in. I joke with Josh that we're advertising for people to rip us off by putting giant tubs full of stuff on our porch (we live on second floor) because there is no room in apartment. We can't just get rid of what's in them because we aren't using them right now. Don't get me wrong, it's not like, "Hey, I'd use this if...". It's mostly military things of Josh's that I convinced him to save for our kids and Gabriel's clothes and what not that are too small for him. I do have to admit it'll be nice being able to have a little more room.
The duplex is not massive, and the way it's set up doesn't seem like much a difference downstairs. But since the two bedrooms are upstairs as well as a full bath, it's clear to see that there is definitely a square footage difference. Downstairs is the living room with a cupboard under the stairs for misc. items, and a dining room with a larger pantry. The kitchen is also downstairs, but set up on a single wall. Not sure how I like it yet, but I'll deal. Then there is a full size washer and dryer with a half bath beside the kitchen/dining area. I have to admit that it'll be nice to do our laundry in a full size washer and dryer. Apartment sizes are just too small and lead to too much laundry. And as much as I like cleaning, I hate having to half loads so the dryer won't take twelve cycles to dry. ;)
So, we move in next week. And we are still continuing a house hunting search. We are only on a month to month with the apartments and we'll be on the same at this duplex.
Even though we have a truck, convenience is costing us. Josh wants to rent a UHaul to shorten the loads and the time in moving. I said that was fine, since I won't be much help with a baby on my hip and a new tattoo on my wrist (oh yeah, valentine's gifts for each other are tattoos). This will definitely be a busy week.
*UPDATE* Gabriel is going to go cupcake taste testing with mommy again. We need another dozen tiny ones. I think he'll be alright with it becasue we'll probably end up getting the orange creamcicle ones and he liked those.
