Like Gabe, Like Gavin?

Ok, I am the only one who thinks my boys look as similar as they do. People say that Gabriel looks more like daddy and Gavin looks more like mommy. I think they are a fair mix of us both, but these pictures make my point a little clearer. ;)

Daddy and His Boys

I ask Josh what he's going to do with two boys and he says he has an arm for each. I guess he must have meant that literally because Gabriel seldom lets daddy hold his little brother, Gavin, without him also in his lap. Josh really does have his hands full. ;)

Christmas Morning with the Boys

Gabriel woke up and had a hearty breakfast before even going to the Christmas Tree and decorations. Luckily, he's still little enough for that. Josh and I know that when they get older, the boys will be waking us up at the crack of dawn because Santa has been here. ;) But for now, we were able to enjoy a blissful sleep-in and full breakfast (even with a morning cup of joe). Then it was presents time. Gabriel got his stocking first, and he helped Gavin with his. As he slowly pulled out every little stuffed toy and trinket for his little brother, he covered Gavin with them from his shoulders down. It didn't really bother his little bro, who pretty much slept and ate his way through his first Christmas.
Then the presents under the tree were next. Gabriel finally got the hang of opening gifts, but he was still insistent on giving us the wrapping paper every time he ripped a piece off. lol Overall, he had a great holiday, and his little brother got some R&R while Gabe played with his new things.

Gavin Joshua Petroff

Gavin Joshua Petroff
7 Pounds 1 Ounce
20 Inches Long
Born December 15th, 2009 @ 1:16pm

Welcome Gavin Joshua Petroff

Josh and I are home from the hospital with a larger family now. Gavin joined us Tuesday afternoon at 1:16pm, 7lbs 1 0z, 20 inches long. After three contractions (and a too late anesthesiologist), Gavin came. I was all for the drugs, but Gavin didn't let me have any. Thanks buddy.

And Gabriel is a very proud, and very protective big brother. He got a little Thomas the Train set and wouldn't let anyone have it. But last night he came over when I was feeding Gavin and he laid his Thomas train by his brother and walked away. It was so adorable. I almost cried. And everytime Gavin cries, Gabriel is right there checking out what is wrong with his little brother. So attentive. ;)

Anyway, we're home now and Gavin is crying for some more food. Here's a link to some pics, hope it works. http://www.our365.com/NewbornPortraits/BabyDetail.aspx?birthid=f464f995-33b7-40ea-ac27-f2c5a9b12699

Gavin Beating Daddy Home?

Gavin is trying his hardest to make his big debut before his daddy comes home. As it is, Josh is taking a flight tomorrow instead of Weds. I have done all the necessary things before a baby is due to come (with the exception of my water breaking), but I'm trying to be lazy and take it easy so that he stays in there till tomorrow evening at least. What's funny is Josh's crew left today for home instead of Weds. But since Josh's ticket is non-refundable, he has to wait another day before his plane leaves. Guess the rest of the crew didn't like working in single digits either. ;) So, Josh is hanging out in WY for another day before his flight from there takes off. And Gavin is really giving me some pressure and contractions to let me know he's ready, even if we're not. Everything is happening pretty fast. Gabriel was eight days late, and if Gavin comes he'll be two weeks early! Never too early to show how different he is going to be from his brother I guess. I've already had a talk with the little guy (Gavin) and explained that he needs to wait for Daddy. I'm not so sure he was listening...

Gavin's Due Date

So, Josh is out of town till about the 10th. Then he's going to finally be home and not travelling like crazy. Gabriel has really been missing him, and I would like to have the co-parenting option with our first born before he becomes a big brother. And speaking of Gavin, he should be making his big debut in the next couple of weeks. My doctor goes out of town on the 19th, so we'll schedule an induction around the 17th at the latest (that way we have her for delivery and not an on call physician we know nothing about). I'm not super excited about inducing, so I'm hoping that Gavin just wants to join the family early. But we'll see what happens. Either way, two weeks from today, our family of three will be a family of four. And Gabriel will be the world's best big brother (once he gets use to the idea that Gavin isn't going anywhere). ;) Hope everyone is having a happy holiday, and we'll send out cards of the newest Petroff when he arrives!
